Symbian - Future OS Giant

The future looks good for mobile and Symbian - their goal is to be the number 1 operating system in the world. Take note, not just a leader in the domain of the smart phone OS.

"Today, the PC is the preferred device for accessing the Internet, but that will change in 2012, when it will be surpassed by mobile devices, IDC said. " (from NetImperative)

Strategically, Symbian is now an open source platform c/o the Symbian Foundation composed of Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, LG Electronics, etc.

Liking iGoogle and Twitter together

I'm in like with iGoogle right now.
It's a non-intrusive "homepage" that let's me explore widgets.
Very dummy friendly.
I just inserted a neat twitter tool in my iGoogle that changes colors according to the time of day.

Well we'll see the reason I didn't like the other kinds was when it became too cluttered.

Go Yahoo Go!

I met with Yahoo today and discovered that Yahoo Go! is an application - a widget platform for mobile phones and not an operating system like Android.

We tried exploring Android last year but our dude decided to switch topics because he didn't want to replace his current mobile phone OS. We decided to focus on exploring application technologies that run on existing platforms.

The cool thing about Yahoo Go! is that one of their goals is to help developers to build an application once and allow them to run in ALL mobile phones.

That'd be soooo great. Making an application run in Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and Samsung is a tiresome process.

Jeff Jongko officially joins the SMS Lib Project Team

Check out the SMS Lib site as they welcome Jeff to the team.
Hey Jeff, congratulations! We're so proud of you!

SMS Lib is an important component to Jeff's projects at the Center.
He's our mobile master. Now combining his power with another Java developer from Greece, they'd be unstoppable.

Prepaid Everything for Pinoys

Wow, even insurance is now prepaid.

Sparx prepaid insurance cards are bite-sized insurance (bites of P100 and P300) for kids and yuppies.

They're also giving away graphic novels called Private Iris and games to their subscribers.

Interesting. And so Pinoy.

The Winning Picture

Ironically, the winning picture was shot in the parking lot since Alfred got stuck in traffic during the awarding ceremony. Ergo, the winning picture has me and Christine as hand models holding up the award for Best School Application and Category Finalist.
